The Idea

Why can’t clothes have lights in them? For thousands of years humans have worn clothes, developed new materials and techniques for making clothes, designed new looks for clothes and spent endless hours and dollars buying clothes. So why not have a new kind of clothing, one with lights?

In 1993 one of the co-founders of Nyx built his first illuminated jacket. Many thousands of prototypes later, a flexible display screen technology was developed that allowed for an item of clothing to light up. A coat of many colors.

The Company

Nyx Illuminated Clothing was founded in 2001 in Los Angeles, California USA. It now markets and sells illuminated clothing worldwide through this web-site www.nyxit.com and national representatives.

The Future

Flexible display screen technology is not limited to use in clothing. Although clothing is an obvious application, and one that is very eye catching, there are many more commercial areas for development. Stay tuned….

Nyx Clothing is currently contracted by NASA to develop wearable health monitors for astronauts.
